Some Aspects of Parallel Postprocessing for Numerical Simulation
نویسنده
چکیده
The topics discussed in this paper are closely connected to the development of parallel finite element algorithms and software based on domain decomposition [1, 2]. Numerical simulation on parallel computers generally produces data in large quantities being kept in the distributed memory. Traditional methods of postprocessing by storing all data and processing the files with other special software in order to obtain nice pictures may easily fail due to the amount of memory and time required. On the other hand, developing new and efficient parallel algorithms involves the necessity to evaluate the behavior of an algorithm immediately as an on-line response. Thus, we had to develop a set of visualization tools for parallel numerical simulation which is rather quick than perfect, but still expressive. The numerical data can be completely processed in parallel and only the resulting image is displayed on the user’s desktop computer while the numerical simulation is still running on the parallel machine. This software package for parallel postprocessing is supplemented by interfaces to external software running on high-performance graphic workstations, either storing files for an off-line postprocessing or using a TCP/IP stream connection for on-line data exchange.

Parallel Implementation of Numerical Dissipation Rate and Viscosity Post-processing in Computational Fluid Dynamics
In simulations of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), the numerical dissipation generated from discretization of governing equations can rarely be ignored. Estimating numerical dissipation rate and numerical viscosity is not only pressing for subgrid scale (SGS) modelling in Large Eddy Simulations (LES) and low order methods such as Finite Volume Method (FVM) in commerical codes, but also helpf...
متن کاملNumerical and Experimental Investigations on Springback of U-bending of DP600 Steel Alloy Sheet
The most prominent feature of sheet material forming process is an elastic recovery phenomenon during unloading which leads to springback and side wall curl. Therefore evaluation of springback and side wall curl is mandatory for production of precise products. In this paper, the effects of some parameters such as friction coefficient, sheet thickness, yield strength of sheet and blank-holder fo...
متن کاملAccuracy Enhancement Using Spectral Postprocessing for Differential Equations and Integral Equations
It is demonstrated that spectral methods can be used to improve the accuracy of numerical solutions obtained by some lower order methods. More precisely, we can use spectral methods to postprocess numerical solutions of initial value differential equations. After a few number of iterations (say 3 to 4), the errors can decrease to a few orders of magnitude less. The iteration uses the Gauss-Seid...
